The Maxhütte (MH), named after the Bavarian King Maximilian II Joseph, was a steel mill steeped in tradition and is now an industrial monument in Sulzbach-Rosenberg. During the heyday, the Maxhütte employed over 9,000 people. The Maxhütte was the last steel mill in Bavaria with a conventional blast furnace, and at the same time it was the last company in Bavaria to be subject to mining participation.
