Staubfall

Mountain Biking Highlight

Tips

  • Thorsten

The Staubfall belongs with its 200m height to the 10 highest waterfalls of Germany.
The path leads to a steep and narrow forest path, with roots and steps along the deep in the valley rushing Fischbach. Sliding and carrying passages are not left out here. The highlight and the reward for the effort is certainly the passage behind the waterfall and under the waterfall. Depending on the amount of water it can also get wet once. Incidentally, the border between Austria and Germany also runs here. So it's a limit experience in the truest sense of the word.

The dust at the end of the Fischbach gorge is a real spectacle. For bikers, there is also a sliding passage in the canyon, but that does not matter, because you are constantly busy enjoying the impressive scenery anyway

On the map we could not guess. Demand at the bike rental - Answer: yeah, you just can not shut down so fast, Conclusion: without the help of the two nice gentlemen, we would have definitely needed forever and could have possibly done it up behind the waterfall no longer ... who goes up there / goes, should be able to carry his bike !!!!

At the end of a gully from Dürrnbachhorn to Sonntagshorn is the Staubfall on the border of Östrerreich to Germany - in the midst of a wildly romantic mountain landscape a "very big cinema" - partial biking ban, push so, not to disturb the many hikers.

Beautiful waterfall, you have to work something out. The path is easy to drive up to the wooden bridge. From there, almost only push. It is narrow and slippery under the waterfall. So many handlebars are already wide. Also on the first section in the direction of Heutal, over numerous stages, is announced push. The entire section is very scenic and definitely worth the effort.

Definitely go if you are in the vicinity. It's worth it, even if you have to carry your bike a few feet

Definitely a magical place. Definitely take if you are there. Just went with Pedelec. Thank you. But you will definitely be rewarded.

Yesterday we also saw two bikers there and the nice lady at the end is partly pinned with her bike 🚲.
Partly, the way on the German side is already a bit undermined and some steel wire mounts are bent over.

    Please note:
Under the waterfall, it is sometimes so tight that you can circle an E-MTB alone only with the greatest of effort. If at all, you should be at least two and then also of good physical condition. Alone with e-MTB therefore not recommended!

    Dreamlike place, as already described.
I recommend the approach from the Austrian side: much less pushing than from the German side.
Under the waterfall around the corner you only get around when you lift your bike. I had the top tube at shoulder level (on the mountain side) and then I got along quite well. Take care of the retaining chain, which is a bit tight in the corner and likes scratching the frame.
Unfortunately you can not just hang my e-bike on your shoulder, so it just needs more power.
Say: who can lift his [E-] bike a few feet 50cm and should be able to do it alone. If you are not, you should plan for help from home.
