It was at the beginning of the 19th century that the British enthusiasm for the town in the Alpes Maritimes really took off. It was primarily the English aristocrats who came to spend their vacations in Nice, before this practice gradually became more widespread. This is the origin of the name of this famous Nice promenade.
The best view you can have of this magnificent bay which has made Nice so popular is by climbing the corniche just after “Old Nice”.
