Until 1967, this building was inhabited by the Sisters of Charity, the order founded in 1654 by Cathérine de Joyeuse. The brick U-shaped building has recently been restored. The garden was originally a vegetable garden. On the left, under the chapter house, is a curious covered cemetery.

In 1640, Mme de Joyeuse recalls the will of her mother-in-law, Catherine of Cleves, Countess of Eu, to create a monastery at Eu. Dieppe nuns, the hospitable sisters of the Mercy of Jesus, of the order of St. Augustine, propose to take care of it. The sisters choose the location of the new hospital. They buy a house, the "House of Isle", construction of the 17th-18th century and build buildings on both sides brick. They still exist today, some in their original destination, such as the chapel of the sick, built in 1675 or the chapel of the sisters. Just below is a very unique place: the cemetery covered nuns, burial place of the first nuns (1656).
The hospice opens its doors April 17, 1658 and will not close until February 1, 1967. It was intended to "serve, feed, treat, and medicate the poor." ville-eu.fr/patrimoine-patrimoine-religieux-hotel-dieu.php
