From the Brandenburg up in a south-easterly direction
it goes steeply uphill to the Stechberg.
From its summit you have a fantastic all-round view of the Wartburg and the Rhön
or to the Ringgau on the opposite side of the Werra. During the Cold War, Soviet soldiers used this strategically good location to observe what was happening in Herleshausen in Hesse and in the Werra Valley.
