Hückeswagen Castle was built as a castle above the Wupper on a mountain spur and was first mentioned in 1189.
Today the city administration sits in this historic castle and the city council with its mayor is sure to hold its meetings here ......

The castle, later Schloss Hückeswagen, towers over the Oberberg town of Hückeswagen and was first mentioned in the Middle Ages (1189).
The castle now houses the local history museum (opening times: Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.), which provides interesting information about the castle and city history. The architectural ensemble in the old town invites you to linger and take photos.
Do not be annoyed when you are in Hückeswagen at a traffic light, just have a look at the funny East traffic light men (known from the new federal states) and smile away the waiting time.
