Bike Touring Highlight
The crystal-clear, almost circular lake at the foot of the Feldberg is a real natural highlight that you should definitely not cycle past. The highest lake in Germany outside the Alps impresses not only with its deep green color, but also with a rare underwater plant with a chive look. The prickly bream, which is under nature protection and otherwise only found in Scandinavia and in the Titisee in Europe, is also the reason for the strict bathing ban. But don't worry, the fish can also be observed very well from the shore.

This 9 ha small Karsee lies 1,109 m high on the 300 m steep slopes of the Feldberg.
The lake is 32 meters deep, a basin carved out by glaciers since the Ice Age. The cool, oxygen-rich Karsee is fed by streams from the spring-rich eastern waste of the Seebuck. The sea floor is covered in loose stands by aquatic plants such as the rare bream herbs.
The lake wall protruding from the forest rises above the lake. Many alpine plants can be found in the open, sunny rocks.
A forest that is left to its own devices surrounds the Feldsee to the east and north. The Feldsee is a protected natural paradise, not a swimming lake. The bream, which is under nature protection, grows near the shore.
