The Play Tower is the remaining tower of the former Church of Our Lady. Part of the church was demolished during the 1972 restoration, causing the tower to fall.

Emergency measures prevented collapse, but the tower no longer leans straight. The tower is an indispensable part of the cityscape of Edam.

Play tower, tower of the former Little or Liebfrauenkirche, a late Gothic two-aisled hall church, built between 1568 and 1569.

Only the part of the small church immediately adjacent to the tower remains. The rest was demolished in 1883. Unprotected carillon, with 4 protected bells, cast by P. van den Ghein in 1561.

Carillon in the Speeltoren. When a part of the old church was demolished in 1972, the tower fell a bit crooked. The carillon has 37 bells and is usually played automatically by means of a drum playing from the sixteenth century. Only old bells from the carillon are displayed in the large church in Edam. The carillon still plays regularly.
