The Pünte over the Norder low is a short cut of a few kilometers on the coast on the coast north - north dike.
There, the arm muscles are trained.
But not always ready for use!

The Norder Deep runs approximately in east-west direction. It occupies numerous drainage ditches and is of central importance for the drainage of the neighboring communities. For the cyclist or hiker, however, it forms natural route interruption. In this respect, inland ferries or Pünten, as they are called in northern German, bring significant reductions, as the Norder low can be easily overcome with it. The Pünte is hand-operated and can be operated by pedestrians or cyclists at no cost.

The Pünte was in hibernation for a very long time this spring - a shame, because (apart from the adventure of being your own ferryman): the route over the Norder Tief is a particularly beautiful and quiet connection between Neuwesteel and the old Leybuchtsiel and the dike route between Norddeich and Greetsiel! But now it's back to "crank free" from the first weekend in June 2021!
