The Förchenbach - its name means "trout stream" - has its source on the Wendelstein, passes the Tatzelwurm and cuts deep into the rocks before it comes to Brannenburg and then flows into the Inn. The devil built this high rock wall by the stream, about halfway between Brannenburg and Tatzelwurm, because he wanted to block the stream here and dam up the water. In fact, Satan is said to have managed to seal off the narrow valley. The water could no longer drain away and a reservoir formed behind the so-called Teufelsmauer.
