Best Hikes to Berggasthof Hohe Asten
Tips

Very nice inn with a great view of the mountains and the Chiemsee. There is enough space and opportunities for children to let off steam. The prices are good. The view also makes the ascent worthwhile. The trails are well made and do not require special equipment (in summer).

  • The landlord doesn't like MTBs and has put up a few small signs on the way that are easy to overlook. It happened to me and I was hit so aggressively by him upstairs while I was eating, for minutes even though I asked him to let me eat, that I would never set foot on his bottom again. His rudeness is widely known. But the staff is nice.

  • A really very nice and above all view which is worth the climb. Since the path is very steep you should bring good condition here. I would recommend walking shoes.

  • Pretty little chapel at the Aster Alm. The park bench next to it offers a very nice view to rest and enjoy.

  • Although you often only feel like having a little snack, you should try more here. In the meat dishes you can tell that most of the ingredients come directly from the farm. The goulash is the best far and wide, including every economy on the ground. Inside you can also buy cheese and meat to take home. The Kaiserschmarrn has often been praised here, the Auszognen (larded noodles) have literally been a legend for decades.

    Local, personable and child-friendly!

P.S .: The Rehleitenkopf is worth a nice detour, often cows, sheep and AND horses graze. :-)

  • It is really worthwhile to hike to Germany's most widely read farmed farm inn. Not only because the view is fantastic and you want to be able to live here yourself 😊 The Astl family also offers hikers food in their fridge on the farm that consists of hop products, including eggnog, veal sausage, dumplings and cheese. You can take everything with you via self-service. You only need cash - card payments are not possible during Corona. Coffee to go is also available ☕
