Really great tour only you should not do it on the weekend because it can be very crowded.

The idea for the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park dates back to 1959. It was then proposed to develop the area around the Steinhuder Meer into a nature park. But it was only in 1974 that the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park was established, which has existed since 1983 in its current form.

The Meerbruch meadows are resting places for countless wild geese during their migration to the breeding areas. The wet meadows are ideal. At some viewpoints, the animals are observed by bird pleasures. A natural spectacle to experience is when the formations of thousands of wild geese land with loud chatter or start.

The diversity of the landscape is unique: bogs, swampy meadows, heaths, glacial moraine landscape, mountains and forests offer a wealth of natural experiences all year round. The heart of the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park is Lower Saxony's lake "Steinhuder Meer".
On viewing platforms, adventure trails and signposted hiking and biking trails, the flora and fauna can be experienced directly, without disturbing the sensitive eco-world. With a little luck you can also see sea urchins and ospreys.
As versatile as the landscape is, the leisure activities are also here. Bathing, surfing, sailing or kiting on the Steinhuder Meer. But you can also go on a discovery tour by bike and hiking. Or take advantage of the opportunities and just relax in one of the many excursion pubs. The lake and its surroundings, with its idyllic fishing villages are today among the most beautiful nature reserves in Germany.
