On the middle path leading from Pforzheim to Waldshut (long-distance footpath), the Neuhaus hut is located on the second stage (Bad-Wildbad - Besenfeld) on the Alte Weinstraße. This hut is also referred to as Oberforstrat-Ebert-Hütte. The walker and shelter built in the 1950s. The name "Neuhaushütte" is reminiscent of the so-called "upper new house" on the Old Wine Route. The "lower new house" stood in the meadows at today's sewage treatment plant at the Murg in Schönmünzach. The forest path from there upwards is still called Scheiterweg today. With an even gradient, the trail with a length of about 4 km overcomes a height difference of about 425 m. More than 200 years ago, around 1750, he served the Scheiterholztransport from the Murg to Enz. Background for this arduous action was the then existing border between Baden and Württemberg. The "Württemberg" wood from the upper Murg Valley could not be brought down the Baden border near Schönmünzach for political reasons. For the necessary workforce and also the horses used, buildings were needed in the valley and at the height. From the "upper new house" remains of the foundations are still recognizable, as well as the well shaft. The original location is not identical to the current location of the hiking and refuge. This is located about 300 m to the north in a closed forest. These are indicated by signage. (Www.seewald.eu/index.php?id=338&type=98)
