Hiking Highlight
St. Maria Magdalena is a small church ruin that has long been forgotten. It wasn't until 1999 that a newly founded support association decided to upgrade the ruin and make it accessible to the public. The renovation work continued until 2003. Today the ruins of the church, which probably fell victim to the Palatinate War of Succession, can be visited freely.

In 1496 St. Maria Magdalena was mentioned as a parish church. Apparently a complex from the 13th century was built over in the late Gothic period. The building was destroyed in 1689. The surrounding walls, doors and tracery windows of a small hall building with three-sided broken choir and western gable rider have been preserved. Source: rheinhessen.de

This church was built in the late Gothic period. Unfortunately, it has only been a ruin for several centuries. It was probably destroyed in the 17th century. In the years 2000 - 2003 she was saved for posterity. It is located in Hangen-Wahlheim near Alsheim. At first I didn't discover it because it is a bit hidden.
