With the Urbach Tower, scientists from the University of Stuttgart, in cooperation with the Swiss universities Empa and ETH Zurich, are presenting the world's first built object made of so-called self-forming wood. In 2019, the striking, spiraling landmark was built for the Remstal Garden Show. The tower is to be preserved permanently as a landmark and viewing point.

The tower at the birch is part of the "16 Stations" architectural project. These are landmarks in each of the 16 municipalities of the Remstal Garden Show 2019, designed by well-known architects from all over Germany.

The Urbach Tower. A structure that looks as if someone took wood and decided to treat the laws of geometry as only a rough recommendation. Created as part of the Remstal Gartenschau, during which several architectural offices left their mark along the valley, this tower is a prime example of experimental construction.
