The district court Langendreer was built 1907 to 1909 on the north side of the former imperial place. It was used until 1977 as a courthouse. Today, at the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Platz is the city administration office east of the city Bochum.
In the middle of the square is the sculpture "Breathing Pillar" by Roman Signer. On the opposite side of the square is the former Amtshaus and the Amtsvorstehervilla Langendreer.
