Protestant Parish Church + War Memorial - Nieder-Wöllstadt 🚴‍♂️

The Protestant parish church on Frankfurter Straße in Nieder-Wöllstadt is a Baroque hall building, built on the site of a medieval predecessor at the beginning of the 18th century. It was commissioned by the Counts of Solms-Rödelheim, who had already introduced the Reformation to Wöllstadt in 1540. The church, including the head of the Rooster, rises 36 meters into the air. The majority of the construction costs were covered by donors.
Directly next to the church building is the historic old town hall 🚴‍♂️

Below the Protestant church, protected by an iron gate, is the memorial to the fallen of World War I. It consists of three sandstone plaques set into a niche in the natural stone wall. The larger plaque in the center features a helmet with crossed swords, a laurel wreath, and the dates, with inscriptions carved below. Above, above the wall, stands the memorial to the fallen and combatants of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71. It bears a spiked helmet on the front, with a crossed sword and scabbard below. 🚴‍♂️
