Next to the Barranco del Sao are the ruins of one of the most important hydraulic works in Gran Canaria. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, up to 1,200 kilograms of grain were ground here per day. The people came with their wheat, barley, rye and millet from Artenara, Acusa, Juncalillo de Gáldar, Coruña, Lugarejo, Caideros and the Tierras de Manuel. The mill was abandoned in the 1960s.
