The mill dates back to 1834 and replaced a previous mill from 1719, which was destroyed in a storm. Mills had been in operation on this site before that, with documented mentions dating back to at least 1412. The last time windmilling took place here was in 1916.The Lohmühle Mill Association has restored the mill to its original condition and preserves it as a monument to Lower Rhine cultural history.
