Golspie developed in the 18th century as a fishing village. By connecting to the railway network and the construction of the jetty Golspie was attractive to tourists who wanted to visit, for example, the nearby Dunrobin Castle. At the end of the 19th century, Golspie was one of the largest villages in the north of Scotland. The Golspie Stone is a Pictish symbol stone.
