Much suggests that the "pulpit" was an advanced, only lightly fortified watchtower of Nordeck Castle. The absence of mortared masonry points to dry stone walls or timber construction. From there, one still has a remarkable view into the Steinach Valley.

Hiking
Nothing here reminds of the disappeared castle which was probably built in the 11th or 12th century. But the view from up here is really worth seeing. A bank invites you to linger.
