Oldest building in the city: The city of Usedom once had three city gates: The Peenetor, the Swinetor and the Anklamer Tor. Only the latter is still preserved today and has outlived the city's eventful history, which was also marked by devastation, fires and looting.

Various sources date the first documented mentions to the years 1395 and 1481. However, it is believed that the gate was built around 1450. The four-storey brick building with the ogival passage has niche-like plaster panels on the gable ends and a portico niche that extends over three storeys.

The city gate once also housed the city prison and was set up as a home parlor from 1966, which bears testimony to the everyday life of the Usedom farmers and fishermen and shows a number of exhibits worth seeing. Weddings can also be held in the tower room today. One room in the gate is also dedicated to the Usedom painter and photographer Albert Köster.
