Early mining hole in the lignite mining area, today flooded a popular recreational area with beach and landscaped park. In the vernacular, he is also called "Cossi".

The Cospudener See is a flooded former lignite mine in the south of Leipzig. Since its release for the public in 2000, it has become one of the most popular lakes in Leipzig's New Lakeland.
In summer, the trail around the lake is sometimes very crowded, as here pedestrians, cyclists, skaters, etc. have to share the (too narrow) way.

A former open pit, which was freely grazed in 2000, it can be fully circumnavigated on foot, by bike, but at times very crowded.

In the warm season you can cool off here well. Dogs are allowed in the first section of the dog beach in the water.

Anyone familiar with the former opencast mining landscape appreciates the consequences of the landscape change. You will find peace and seclusion as well as sports and the hustle and bustle around the gastronomic hotspots.

A very nice recreation area. But at the weekend there is something going on.

The people of Leipzig are lucky to have such beautiful blue eyes.
Bathing, cycling, skating, hiking or simply relaxing on Cossi and the other lakes are a delight. 👌😎
