The Cospudener See is a flooded former lignite mine in the south of Leipzig. Since its release for the public in 2000, it has become one of the most popular lakes in Leipzig's New Lakeland.
In summer, the trail around the lake is sometimes very crowded, as here pedestrians, cyclists, skaters, etc. have to share the (too narrow) way.

In the warm season you can cool off here well. Dogs are allowed in the first section of the dog beach in the water.

Anyone familiar with the former opencast mining landscape appreciates the consequences of the landscape change. You will find peace and seclusion as well as sports and the hustle and bustle around the gastronomic hotspots.
