The idyllic Friedrichshöhe is located at 800 meters directly on the Rennsteig and at the end of a cul-de-sac. Surrounded by forests, it offers distant views, meadows, a raised moor, rustic restaurants and, last but not least, the information point of the Thuringian Forest Nature Park. The village was founded in 1725 by glassmakers and received its name from the sovereign of the Duchy of Saxony-Hildburghausen, Ernst-Friedrich I. Until 1989, Friedrichshöhe was the smallest community in the GDR with 32 inhabitants. The building in the town center, recognizable by its clock tower, housed one of the last single-class schools in the GDR until 1961.

Friedrichshöhe is an idyllic location. There is a beautiful nature trail nearby.

Surrounded by rustic spruce forest, located in the middle of lush mountain meadows. Too bad that I can not save the smell of forest and meadow. Friedrichshöhe - nature park center, hay hotel and Blessberg view. The narrow cul-de-sac of Siegmundsburg ends here. You can only continue by hiking shoe or mountain bike, either on the Rennsteig or one of the many other forest trails. For example, on a round trip to the Three Stream Stone. The water catchment areas of the Elbe, Weser and Rhine meet up here.
