    Erratic blocks, Steinhof
Steinhof is dominated by around 24 smaller and larger erratic blocks, which were found on the territory of the municipality and transported here by the Rhône Glacier. Many of them were used as building material and no longer exist today.
The three largest remaining boulders are named Grosse Fluh, Menhir and Kilchlifluh. As a silent witness of the Ice Age, the ancestral rocks come from the southern Valais and were led here more than 10,000 years ago on the ridge of the Rhone Glacier.
Grosse Fluh is the name of the beautiful block with a volume of 1200 cubic meters and a total weight of 3500 tons. It is the most powerful erratica in the whole Central Plateau. He is from Arkesine gneiss as it occurs in the Valais Val de Bagnes.
Climbers practice the grips on their smooth-cut walls, which they then want to use in the Alps. Children practice their climbing skills preferably at the somewhat less steep Kilchlifluh, also a foundling from the Valais.
