Mountain Biking Highlight
The picturesque alpine lake Lago di Ledro is located at the eastern end of the valley of the same name at an altitude of 655 m between Lake Garda and Lake Idro. Its total area is 2.2 km² and it is a maximum of 47 meters deep. This lake is one of the most beautiful in Trentino - the surrounding mountains are reflected in its crystal clear water. As if from a picture book, it presents itself ... Lake Ledro with its deep blue water, surrounded by dense forests.
Until the 19th century, the lake was completely isolated from the outside world. In 1847 the first road was built, which has innumerable narrow serpentines. Today this road can only be used by mountain bikers. By car, on the other hand, you can comfortably reach the Ledro Valley through two long tunnels.

About 1000 pile-dwelling sites are known around the Alps. They are located in Switzerland, southern Germany, Austria, Slovenia, northern Italy and eastern France. Often they are on the edge of lakes or moor areas. Due to their location in the always moist soil, construction wood, leftovers, wooden tools and even clothing have been preserved. In Trentino, there are 2 settlements, which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, one in Fiavè and the other at Lake Ledro.
