The Kassel State Theater is a state-supported three-part theater with musical theater, drama, dance, children's and youth theater, and concerts. Built between 1955 and 1959, according to plans by architects Paul Bode and Ernst Brundig, it replaced the previous building, the Court Theater, also known as the Prussian State Theater, which was destroyed in 1943. The theater complex has a floor space of 92,000 m³, consisting of the Grand and Small Houses.
