It almost looks as if the bike path in Rheine will soon no longer cross the street behind the train station, but instead will run directly along the tracks. It would be nice...

At the end of the working conference, we went back into town today and looked at the more touristy places like De Wallen or the Begijnhof before going home again.

Today we started a three-day stay in Amsterdam on a police history city tour. During the Corona period I almost forgot how much I like the city ...

A slightly shorter tour on the Veluwe, which leads through two national parks and to the edge of Arnhem. The route is passable with trekking bike, gravel bike and MTB with and without E. The high proportion of asphalt should not be misleading, because in the national parks, especially in De Hoge Veluwe, you will usually find concrete or asphalt bike paths. The start is at the Deelerwould hiking car park, which is best reached via the Hoenderloo exit on the A50 motorway. From there it goes first on the Groenendaalseweg and then after a few meters to the right into the forest. Here it is varied on forest, gravel and concrete paths through the Veluwezoom National Park. At Kasteel Rosendael (KM 16), follow the Schelmseweg before turning right between the open-air museum and Arnhem Zoo to Schaarsbergen in the direction of Mariëndal. Here it goes a little downhill, if you are brave, you can also use the steep descent just behind the farm and then turn right at the bottom (KM 26). In Mariëndal, a large walkable hedge meanders through the valley, which you can see on the left when you descend. Then head north again to reach the Schaarsbergen entrance (KM 35) to the De Hoge Veluwe National Park (day ticket adults € 11.10, children € 5.50). Here it goes briefly along the road, then turn right towards Hoenderloo onto the concrete cycle path. This is left after a few kilometers to drive over the De Pollen dune landscape towards the Kröller-Müller Museum (KM 40). At the museum, turn left to reach the imposing (and a bit crazy) Jachthuis Sint Hubertus (KM 50). From here it goes with a little dangling to the Hoenderloo exit and from there back over small streets to the hikers' car park. You can eat on the way at Kasteel Rosendael, on Amsterdamseweg (KM 30), in De Hoge Veluwe National Park there are opportunities to stop off at the Kröller-Müller Museum (KM 45) and Jachthuis Sint Hubertus. Finally, Hoenderloo (KM 57) offers several restaurants. Please always check the opening times online beforehand.

Today we went to the autumnal Veluwe in Holland again with Bobby and Petra. A great tour with many beautiful sections and scenic highlights.
First it went from Hoenderloo over the A50 to the Veluwezoom National Park and from there in the direction of Arnhem via Oosterbeek to the Rhine. After lunch in Kasteel Doorwerth, we went back up to Heelsum and Planken Wambuis, where delicious Appelgebak met Slagroom was waiting for us in Boerderij Mossel. Then we drove through the Otterloo entrance into the actual Hoge Veluwe park, did another lap and that was it ... 🙂

Short lap with Lars and his new gravel bike. If the man ever installs a larger sprocket in the front, we will only see his shadow ... 🙄
