This gem is away from the capital Santa Cruz. No cruise ships disturb the view here and you can loll around undisturbed in the black volcanic sand. If the way back is too long for you, you can also be picked up here comfortably by water taxi. However, you have to reserve this in advance. Information about the taxi: nauticanivaria.com.

Beautiful, lonely beach with dark sand and surrounded by mighty rocks.

The hike from Igueste to Antequera beach is one of the most difficult hikes on Tenerife. This description refers to the lower section of the path from Igueste to the beach in the map of the "... Round of Igueste ..." The route is often difficult to find (without a hiking guide I would have gone the wrong way several times). At the beginning you have to turn left from the smooth path after a few minutes onto a stony path, later (after 20 minutes) turn left again onto a narrow, steep stony path. The previous path only leads to a dilapidated house (perhaps an old lighthouse). It is a beautiful viewpoint, but there is no further path. (The detour there takes an extra 25 minutes.)
You have to climb to a height of 400 m, past an old shepherd's hut on the ridge and then 2 km (as the crow flies) from the sea, very steeply down into a valley where you often cannot see any path at all for a long time. If you can no longer see the path and just continue to descend, you will find it further down. (If you plan to take the same route back, you should keep looking around and remember where you went!).

When you are almost at the bottom and Zapata beach is at your feet, the path branches off well above this beach (about 10 minutes' walk above it) in relatively flat terrain with vegetation up to knee-high. You have to look carefully not to miss the branch. From there to the left you climb slightly up to the mountainside, which then drops ever steeper to the right (south). If you are not absolutely sure-footed and have no fear of heights, this terrain becomes dangerous in windy conditions. At 100 meters above sea level you cross this 600 - 700 m wide steep slope and then descend to Antequera beach. Antequera beach is officially a naturist beach, but many boat tourists swim in textiles. Time required according to the Rother hiking guide: 2 1/2 hours each way.
