Tips

  • The Würzburger- or Galgentor is one of 5 drivable gates into the city. The name Galgentor comes from the fact that it used to be the place of execution with the gallows in front of the gate, on the so-called Köpfleinswieslein. It is the highest point of the Rothenburg city fortifications. The Galgentorturm was built around 1388.
