In Lindow there was a grinding and sawing mill that was driven by the Schlaube. It was the first sawing mill to be built in the Lebus region. The mill was first mentioned in 1429. It was destroyed by fire in 1442. In 1540 the Frankfurt Carthusian monastery was dissolved and its property (including the mill) came to the University of Viadrina Frankfurt. With this transfer of ownership, the university became a large landowner, but could not manage the property. In 1582 the university sold the mill to Klix, known as Klixmüller. He paid the university 1 thaler, 7 silver groschen in interest from the mill and 6 silver groschen, 6 pennies in house rent, 2 1/2 wispels of grain, 2 smoked chickens and 12 shocks of wine sticks. There is no report of the cessation of the grinding and sawing operation. Source: Festschrift "650 Years of Great Lindow"
