In dry summers, the cave can be explored relatively safely by hikers at around 50 meters. Then at the latest you will hit water. With rubber boots you can go a few meters further. But after 70 -80 meters at the latest it's over. A siphon begins here that can only be submerged by experienced speleologists.
The cave is unlocked and freely accessible.

The murder hole is a water-bearing cave - in technical terms: an active vadose cave in the Roggen valley near Steinenkirch, a district of Bömenkirch in Baden-Württemberg. At 4382 meters, the total length of the cave ranks 18th in Germany and 4th in Baden-Württemberg. The emerging water flows over the Mühlbach flowing parallel in its floodplain after about a kilometer at the Oberen Roggenmühle in Die Eyb.

The murder hole is the fourth longest cave in the Alb, before the Falkensteiner cave (not the second longest, as mentioned by Lukas). The Blauhöhle am Blautopf, the Wulfenbachquellhöhle and the Hessenhaudoline are longer.
