Tips

  • Jürgen Hild

In dry summers, the cave can be relatively safely explored by hikers to about 50 meters. At least then you meet with water. With rubber boots, it continues a few meters. But at the latest after 70 -80 meters is the end. Here begins a siphon that can only be experienced by experienced speleologists.
The cave is unlocked and freely accessible.

If it rained the day before, you are already after 2m in the water and are - as Jürgen recommended - rubber boots needed. Had a flashlight, but no rubber boots. A parking lot in the immediate vicinity.

The murder hole is the second longest cave in the Swabian Jura. Access is blocked by a siphon after approx. 80m. After a few meters the water was too high for our hiking shoes.

The murder hole is the fourth longest cave in the Alb, before the Falkensteiner cave (not the second longest, as mentioned by Lukas). The Blauhöhle am Blautopf, the Wulfenbachquellhöhle and the Hessenhaudoline are longer.
