Although the former mountain industry on the Czech side of the summit is now used as a private residence, a visit is worthwhile. Curiously, the state border with its white landmarks leads right over the top of the mountain.

Hiking

A short tour around the Johannesstein. We start from the Kammbaude to the nature trail after graduation, we climb the Johannesteinaussicht and enjoy the view of Oybin and the surrounding mountains. Highly recommended in good visibility. Along the border we go to the black puddle and on to the star (hiking car park). Next we follow the way to Oybin Hain, make a detour to the mountain tower or Ludwigshöhe (beautiful view of the Oybin) then it continues the path to the hamlet Hain and finish the tour at the Kammbaude.
