Bike Touring Highlight
The Göhren Viaduct is one of the most imposing German bridge constructions from the early days of railway construction.
It connects the Wechselburger district Göhren and the Lunzenauer district Cossen with each other. At a height of 68 m and in two floors, it spans the Zwickauer Mulde at a length of 381 m. The laying of the foundation stone took place on May 27, 1869 and two years later the completion. At times, work was carried out on the imposing structure with up to 5,000 workers and 340 horses. Until the renovation in 1982-86, the original length was even 512 m.
Today the railway line Chemnitz-Leipzig leads over the Göhrener bridge.
