It owes its name to the bandit Marcone, who frequented these areas in the 19th century at the time of the Kingdom of Italy. Now it is a small equipped bivouac that is always open on the ridge path, not far from Prato all’Albero. Surrounded by meadows and a suggestive tall beech forest. On 12 August 1944 the "battle of Capanna Marcone" took place near this structure in which the partisans led by Guerrino ambushed a German infantry battalion.
