The reason for erecting the tower was the installation of water tanks to supply the growing sewing machine factory with process water and for fire protection. The tower is today the landmark of the city of Wittenberge.
The German Singer AG built the tower in 1928 - 1929. The tower weighs 5000 tons, for which 210,000 bricks, 1600 m³ of gravel, 13,000 bags of cement and 105 tons of round steel were used.

You can climb the clock tower, from there you have a wonderful panoramic view. There is also a small museum there.

The museum is really interesting. From the ancient Singer factory to the old GDR Veritas factory. Lots of exhibits and the story of Isaak Singer: Self made man from mechanic and street actor to millionaire.
