De Braakman is a former estuary of the Western Scheldt in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen in the vicinity of Hoek and Biervliet, villages of the municipality of Terneuzen. De Braakman was created at the time as a result of the successive storm tides in the 14th and 15th centuries and was subsequently silted up and/or poldered over time.
