On the Rhine front of the city, significant parts of the historic city wall have been preserved, including several towers and gates.
The watchtower was built around 1480 to strengthen the Rees town fortifications. So let's go, it's worth a visit.👀

Construction of the wall and towers began as early as 1289. The whole thing then dragged on into the 14th century. So even earlier there were building projects that took longer.

There is a lot to see at the old city wall and information boards about the watchtower, the Jewish cemetery and the white tower. The small pond is a great place to sit and enjoy. The "Frog King" is watching ;O)
