The buildings are based on the architectural style of the 13th to 14th centuries. At that time the new Wollin received the town charter of Lübeck and became a member of the Hanseatic League. With their half-timbering, the buildings form a contrast to the simpler huts of the museum village, which reflect the state of the 9th and 10th centuries. The main building has a usable area of 600 square meters. It will accommodate exhibition and workshop rooms. In addition, there will be conference rooms and a gastronomic offer there. The other buildings are designed as simple half-timbered huts. They are thematically dedicated to old crafts, for example there is a herbalist, bow maker and bookbinder hut.

The Viking Open-Air Museum is located around 20 km south-east of Miedzyzdroje, in Wollin at the transition between the mainland and the island of Wolin. The lovingly built pallisade village consists of around 30 buildings in which various crafts are presented - there is agriculture, gardens, horses, geese and other farm animals run between the buildings.
You can watch how bread is baked on the hot stone, take part in the pottery, watch the production of wool and felt. There are also regular events on the summer weekends and opportunities to sail on the Dziwna with old ships.
The open-air museum is being expanded month by month - it is operated by a Woliner Bürger cooperative.
