Mountain Biking Highlight
Already in the 14th century (1372) was in Hammer a mill from which gradually developed an industrial estate. From the year 1492 it is known that there was a brass hammer next to the mill. The industrial settlement Hammer is located outside Nuremberg's city center, east in the district of Laufamholz. This had advantages and disadvantages in earlier centuries. Advantage: One did not succumb to the restrictions of the Nuremberg industrial code. Disadvantage: The settlement did not enjoy the protection of the city wall and was destroyed in the second margrave war (1552). The reconstruction of the hammer mill as a wire drawing mill was carried out by the Kanler family. In order to prevent renewed destruction, the area was surrounded by a wall (except the river side).

It is worth stopping here for a photo or two and snapping up information about the story! Especially the light-shadow play of the buildings / ruins is wonderful in the sun!

Almost all mountain bike routes listed under "Hammer" must be deleted immediately, as almost all of them lead ruthlessly through the nature reserve in areas where cycling is expressly prohibited. No user advises that the bike should be pushed here. This applies in particular to the particularly beautiful meadow between Satzinger Mühle and Langseebad and also in the area east of it, only the well-paved main paths on the edge of the meadow may be used.
