Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
In 1858, the Hennickendorf municipal administration had the lake level of the 3.17 km long and 959 m wide Lake Stienitz lowered by 2.5 m in order to exploit the clay deposits discovered there. In 1975 the deposits were used up. By lowering the water level, wet meadows (the so-called rubber meadows) and an alder forest were created in the northern part of the lake, through which an approximately 500 m long boardwalk was created.
