The Pas d'Âne is an ancient, high-altitude passage on the border between Stavelot and Recht. Situated at an altitude of almost 600 metres, this strategic ridge once formed the literal 'roof' of the old transport route between Luxembourg and Liège. It is a place where travellers, merchants and armies have crossed the Ardennes plateau over the centuries.
