Heysen Trail stretches about 1,200 kilometres from Cape Jervis to Parachilna Gorge in the Flinders Ranges, and gets its name from the landscape painter Sir Hans Heysen. This section runs between Cape Jervis and Blowhole Beach, following the coast past Fishery Beach along sandy tracks and exposed hillsides, with sweeping views across Backstairs Passage toward Kangaroo Island as it enters Deep Creek National Park. The views stretch across Investigator Strait to Kangaroo Island, and from June to October you can watch for whales cruising along the coast.
