The (somewhat hidden) "shooting hump" is a former military shooting range, of which there were two in Bürstadt. This one, near the Boxheimerhof, was built after 1882 and is jokingly called "the highest elevation of Bürstadt" by the locals.
The "shooting hump" was at the time a bullet trap. An earth wall with a circumference of about 15 x 30 meters and a height of five meters. It was specially applied for this purpose. The shooting range near the Boxheimerhof was used by the Infantry Regiment No. 118 (Prince Carl), which was stationed in Worms until about 1918. Company by company, the recruits came in step from Worms to Bürstadt marched to Boxheimerhof to hold their shooting practice there.

The small hill seems to tempt the local youth to go off-road!
