In 1928, the geologist and chemist Konrad Goldbach discovered that this spring near Zell am Harmersbach had the highest radium content in the entire area. The water was initially believed to have healing properties. Drinking cures were often used to treat rheumatic complaints and gout.
Today, it is pointed out that the water from this spring is not suitable for drinking!
