The stable yard in Dresden belonged to the building complex of the residence castle and served in the 17th century as a venue for large horse shows. Completed in 1591 under Elector Christian I, it is one of the oldest preserved tournament arenas in the world. Today the Stallhof is used for cultural events such as the medieval Christmas market. Occasionally, even today, horse shows and theater events are hosted here.

The "Kurfürstliche Reissige Stall" stands a little in the shadow of the famous Dresden buildings around it. It is one of the few remaining evidence that reflects the splendor of the Dresden Renaissance era. Completed in 1591 under Elector Christian I, the courtyard was used as a venue for tournaments, hunts and rings. Two bronze columns designed by Giovanni Maria Nosseni remind of the latter, in whose rings the knights had to strike at full gallop with their lance.

Completed in 1591 under Elector Christian I, the stable courtyard served as a venue for tournaments, hunts and rings. The arcade gallery with Tuscan order on the Long Aisle is undoubtedly representative of the mature Renaissance style of southern Germany.
