August 2, 2024
Ortenberg's old town is a pearl among the Upper Hessian timber-framed towns. Here is u.a. the prison to see the "Diebesturm". The largely preserved city wall with late Gothic Obertor, the old town hall (15th-18th c.), Many recently restored half-timbered buildings of the 18th century, late-Gothic St. Mary's Church and others. with a good copy of the "Ortenberg altarpiece" and "herbal sky ceiling painting, above all on the" Spitzen Berg "the recently restored castle of the princes of Stolberg-Roßla (around 1800) with a view over an enchanting landscape.
