Hiking Highlight
The Paxmal is the life's work and pacifist total work of art of Karl Bickel. The Swiss artist built the work of art between 1924 and 1949. It lies high above the Walensee in front of the rising walls of the Churfirsten. The Paxmal is not a place of worship, but a quiet, peaceful place for inner recollection, contemplation and meditation. The left wall of the monument represents the earthly life: the human couple in their being and becoming, love and procreation. The right wall is dedicated to the spiritual life: the awakening, the wrestling, the looking and the rising. Very inspiring!

I recommend taking the bus to Walenstadtberg or taking it to the clinic. The trail from Walenstadt to Walenstadtberg follows mainly the road

Although the Paxmal is mainly recommended from spring to autumn. Nevertheless, it can also be visited in winter, albeit via detours or away from the hiking trail. The positive thing is that you are largely alone. Negative: The official hiking trail is often buried under snow even in March, so that a shortcut - just before the Rugg-Beizli - steeply up the slope is necessary. In addition, the Friedensmal then appears particularly bulky in the middle of white and loses some of its loveliness. A really impressive building ... and in this area. What an effort it must have been to build!
