The magnificent castle complex, the Schleißheimer Park, both from Lustheim as well as from the New Castle, is one of the most important European Baroque gardens. The ensemble of the New Palace, Old Palace, Lustheim Palace and the extensive Baroque gardens are impressive examples of courtly architecture and garden art from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The New Palace, which is well worth seeing, was built by Elector Max Emanuel in 1726 and is part of the Schleissheim Palace complex. It was the summer residence of the Electors and Kings of Bavaria from the House of Wittelsbach from 1726 to 1918. The palace complex is one of the most important baroque complexes in Germany.
