Built in the early 18th century, the Schleißheim palace is an elegant and ornate example of baroque architecture. It has a lavishly decorated interior and one of the most important baroque gardens in Europe. Highlights include the Grand Hall, the Victorian Hall, and the Grand Gallery. The palace was a summer residence of the Bavarian rulers of the House of Wittelsbach and currently houses the State Gallery of European Baroque Painting.
